Online Church Services - Is it OK With God?

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Tom Borgstrom

More and more people are using online church services as a means to worship and hear God’s word. Is it O.K. to interact this way regarding our church involvement? Let me give you a brief background about myself. I have been a Christian for over 20 years and have been involved in several ministries related to the church from leading Bible studies, serving on church boards and participating in short-term mission trips. Have also had the honor of leading worship. I feel it is important to have a understanding of what God calls us to when He commands us to be connected to a church.

Buddha Figurines: Why the Poses Are Important

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Anne politician Hart

Buddha reached Enlightenment while meditating under the Bodhi Tree. For this reason, most Buddha figurines show him meditating. Sometimes you’ll see him with a lotus flower or a snake, but still the most common depiction shows Buddha sitting on the ground with his legs crossed and his feet on his thighs.

Four variations on this classic pose are also significant. You’ll often see Buddha extend his right hand to the ground near his right knee. This is called the “earth touching pose,” and it reminds us that Buddhism doesn’t recognize a distinction between people and animals in the way that Western religions do. In Buddhism, the world is not here for mankind to exploit-instead we are here to cooperate with nature and to help animals on their journey just as we help other people.

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Simon Gray

Often people become confused as to which Lodges are in fact freemasonry and which are affiliates or off springs. One such lodge is that of the Order of the Eastern Star. This Lodge was formed by Dr. Robert Morris. He was a lawyer from Boston and was not only a Master Mason but was Past Grand Master of Kentucky. The foundation of the Order of the Eastern Star is an offspring of the ?adoptive rite? of the Freemasonry. The teachings are apparently based on the Bible and its goal is charity and benevolence.
